My Little Steam Engine!1
A small model twin cylinder double acting steam engine, computer designed and
machined from aluminum, brass and steel. It will run on steam of air pressures as low as 3 psi - when running on steam this low pressure requirement provides generous safety factors for boilers, etc.

"Albert and the Lion"
Просмотров 1,1 тыс.10 лет назад
Produced with CyberLink PowerDirector 11 This is Stanley Holloway's famous recitation: "Albert and the Lion". Mr. and Mrs. Ramsbottom with their brave little son Albert, the proud possessor of "a stick with an 'orses 'ead 'andle". They visit the zoo and see Wallace, the lion, whose nose is all covered in scars! Watch and listen to this famous recitation - I do it as best i can but nevertheless,...
"My 85th Birthday present!"

For an old pilot who has loved flying - particularly beautiful old biplanes like this Steaman - there could not have been a more perfect birthday present than this ride in "six eight zero hotel whisky" a beautifully maintained Stearman Trainer. Powered by a 300 HP engine this aircraft was a delight to fly! The pilot, Robbie Grice, flew several loops and rolls, even a roll off the bottom of a lo...
Down at the old Bull and Bush!

Produced with CyberLink PowerDirector 11 A lovely old London Music Hall song from gentler times - he asks her: "Just let me hold your hand, dear!" The Bull and Bush was on Hampstead Heath in north London - I don't know if it still is - but when I drove to my office near the Clerkenwell Road form Pinner in Middlesex I would drive past the "Bull and Bush"!

This is a lovely old "pub" song, popular in England during and after WW2, when people used to get together and sing just for the joy of it! A pity that today we don't sing like we used to - perhpas we are too busy?
The Lily of Laguna

A lovely old "pub" song, just right for sing-songs where everybody can join in: the melody is beautiful, and it has so few words that you can't forget them! It doesn't take long to siong, so you can sing it again -and again!
"Green Grow The Rushes, Oh!"
Просмотров 12 тыс.11 лет назад
I am singing a very old traditional English song: "Green grow the Rushes, Oh!" Se if you can figure out the meanings if all the verse "number"! The one who is all alone must be God, of course, but what about the others? The lily white boys? The Rivals? I know what they mean to me, perhaps each singer interprets them in his or her own way?

I have sung this before, but I wanted to do it with my new baritone banjolele! Forgive me if it bores you, but let me know if you like it! I hope you do!

Just an old Irish (and English too!) drinking song, triggered by a good afternoon and evening at Callaghan's Irish Pub in Mobile, Aalbama, celerating St. Patrick's day! But I'm English? Yes. but my maternal grandmother, Annie, was full blooded Irish, from County Cork! Thank you, Charla and Kristin, I had such a good time!

An old Engklish "West Country" comic song! The usual challenge for singers was to remember the names of all the old men who hopped on Tom Pierce's gray mare to go to the fiar, but for me, I had to peek at the verses!

Produced with CyberLink PowerDirector 10. Just an old song for a bit of fun, with mu baritone ukulele. Soon I'll have my workshop back in business, so I'll bore you less with singing, and get back to machining small stationary steam engines!

Produced with CyberLink PowerDirector 10, this is just me singing this well known old comic song, popularized by Frank Crumit in the 1930's. I am playing my baritone ukulele to sound as much like a guitar as possible - not very possuble, but I tried! Forgive my lapses of memory - in any case I was cheating by having a list of the first words of each verse in front of me, other wise I'd never ha...

Every once in a while I'll come back and watch all of these steam engine videos. Watching John build and listening to him explain everything is very soothing. Hope John is still with us but his 85th birthday was 10 years and we haven't heard anything from him in a while which causes some concern.

Enjoyed this video too, John. Just a thought, it's been 9 years ago since this ... why not let us see how you're doing now if you're still playing and I do hope that you are. You've certainly given *this* old man some hope that with practice and perserverance that maybe I might be able to get to grips with things too. lol

I can't find the first one at all. Have you taken it down John or do you have a link please? Would love to see it and follow your journey, although I can see it was 9 years ago but I'm 66 (67 in November) and just bought my first banjolele ... sadly I can't play it yet as it didn't come with a fitted bridge and I've been making a right mess of trying to fit it and then tune it so waiting to see what happens but you're right, you're never too old to learn something new especially now with all this time on our hands. :) Anyway great job John.
